Matters discussed:
Fundraising:
Race Night: Parents’ Support needed for this fundraiser which will take place end of November.
Siobhan will assist with design of tickets for the night. Raffle at the door.
This event has the potential to raise funds for the school to use towards new flooring and other essentials for all pupils.
€20 adult ticket? Kids go free? Santa set up on the night.
Hot Meals:
Out to tender. Two quotes have come back.
Still in the planning stage but hopefully will be in place after Christmas.
Pupils will have an option to opt out of hot meals to cut down on waste.
Uniform:
The swap/ take set up in June was a success. Huge thanks to the parents who gave up their free time to come in and help us set it up.
Possible uniform swap again after Christmas.
Siobhan is storing the uniforms in the school. Elaine also has uniforms to add to this supply.
Stationery:
It was suggested that the plastic folders in good condition be reused at the end of the school year for the next group of pupils.
Christmas jumpers:
We are hoping to have a Christmas jumper swap 10th November.
Dates and times to be confirmed. Keep an eye on Aladdin messages for reminder.
Uniforms may be available on the night too for parents to take.
Jumble Sale:
End of November
We are asking teachers not to put pressure on the pupils to bring in ie. €10 or to bring in toys.
Each child should be able to choose something regardless of the amount of toys or money they brought in.
Parking at school:
Parents are asked to be careful where they are parking. Please do not obstruct view around bend towards pedestrian crossing. Do not park across driveways or on the double yellow lines.
Novas:
Reduce amount asked of parents.
Christmas Cards:
Fundraiser running again this year.

Minutes of Parents association AGM 26/02/2025
In attendance:
Elaine Durbin (Chairperson), Gemma King, Anita Kelly (Treasurer), Tríona Walsh, Sarah Counihan (Vice- Chairperson), Alice Maher (Secretary)
Matters discussed:
Hot lunches:
Still in review stage. This won’t be introduced before September 2025. No date set yet.
Healthy Eating:
Reduce number of cake sales, too much money was expected of pupils for the recent cake sale. €5-€10 was suggested. Some families were giving €40 for buns. This is far too much money on sweet treats. Also, limit treats given to the kids from teachers. Keep things in line with Healthy Eating policy.
Uniforms:
All pupils are to wear plain navy tracksuit and parents need to ensure there is no branding or other colours worn by pupils. If issues keep arising then a standard tracksuit bottom from Fennessey’s will need to be introduced. The Parents Association will organise another Uniform Swap evening, we are suggesting the night of the new infant parents meeting once a date is confirmed. This way, new parents can take an item of clothing if they wish. Another suggestion that arose, Can pupils wear their own clothes the final week of the summer term in order to facilitate another uniform swap? If this is not possible can the P.A organise a clothes swap for the week after the summer holidays? A reminder needs to be sent out to parents that all pupils can wear their tracksuits on a Friday regardless if they have PE or not.
Fundraising:
September: Christmas jumper fundraiser, for example parents donate old but still in good condition Christmas jumpers, pupils buy for €5. This money goes towards Santa at Christmas. Every child included for Santa visit. We are wondering is the money raised from Race Night going towards the floors? Parents would prefer to fundraise for nice events etc for the pupils rather than floors.
Summer works:
Tríona Walsh will raise the issue at the next local Council meeting.
November: Jumble Sale - Some money from the Jumble sale goes back to the school.
Also, it was suggested maybe the jumble sale is every 2nd year.
Colours day fundraiser for events for the kids for the end of year ie fun day?
It was suggested also that the fundraising is eased a bit in December. Between Christmas cards, Novas collection, Carol Service, Santa etc there is a lot of expense for parents.
Confirmation:
No teas and Coffee required.
Parents Association Account:
Are there any funds remaining that could be used? More detailed financial report?
After School activities:
Walking to the pitch.
We are aware this is a parental issue as it is after school hours but it has been brought to our attention that drivers are not in fact stopping at lights at Woodcross. A parent witnessed a near fatal incident last Tuesday when a driver did not stop and five boys were about to cross the road. This needs to be addressed. Tríona will bring up this issue at next local community meeting. Perhaps a speed bump is needed. Maybe there is a need for more signage, children crossing etc. Can another
Aladdin message please be sent to parents to ask them to really prepare their children to walk to pitch or simply collect them at the school.
Intel Project
Great initiative we agree. A lot of parental involvement required. Grouping pupils can cause issues/upset. Perhaps an alternative school based science project? Or class based projects? Parents are happy to help but majority of work should be done in school.
Next Meeting: Wednesday 2nd April.

Minutes of Parents association AGM 5/12/2024
In attendance, Susan Frawley (principal), Gemma King (Secretary), Elaine Durbin (Chairperson),
Gordan O’Brien, Anita Kelly( treasurer), Tríona Walsh, Edel McNamara, Tempy O’Callaghan, Gillian Shinnors, Alice Maher, Sarah Counihan.

Elaine Durbin will remain as chairperson.
Sarah Counihan was elected as vice-chairperson.
Alice Maher has been elected as secretary.
Anita Kelly will remain as treasurer.
Matters discussed:
- The school Christmas concert is on the 17 th December and anyone who could donate spot prizes for the raffle it would be greatly appreciated.
- The new Junior yard was discussed and it was suggested that the gate between the two Junior yards be left open so that all the Junior and senior infants can play together.
- The school have won a night at the dogs to be used for a fundraising event. Potential suitable dates was discussed which would be suitable for the majority of the school community. The hope is that monies raised would go towards replacing the flooring in the older part of the school. Susan will contact the Dog track to get available dates for this event.
The uniform swap in June was a great success but there are a lot of clothes still leftover.
The PA suggested that a swap/ drop/ exchange would be arranged for Tuesday 7th January 6-8pm for anyone who would like to pick up a spare uniform, swap or drop something that they are not using. You do not need to have something to donate to come along!

Minutes of Parent Association meeting 22nd February 2024
In attendance: Susan Frawley (Principal), Gemma King (Secretary), Elaine Durbin (Chairperson) Triona Walsh, Christine Gore, Siobhan Casey, Edel McInerney.
The findings of the survey on split classes that had been sent out to parents was discussed.
All present were given the opportunity to read the feedback from the parents who answered the survey.
The results showed that that 89% of children that are in a multi class are happy.
The question was asked how long you would like your child to remain in a multi class?
Of the parents that answered 34.2% replied 1 year, 43.8% replied 2 years, 16.4% replied 3 years, 2.7% replied 4 years and 12.3% replied My child’s entire time in Cratloe school.
This survey concluded that the majority of parents would prefer 1-2 years in a multi-class.
The parents present at the meeting felt that 1 year would be better as it means that children do not feel isolated from the bigger group of classmates. It is for social reasons rather than academic which parents were concerned about.
The findings need to be discussed with the teachers at a staff meeting and board of management before a decision has been made and a change in the policy made.
The parents association are going to organise a uniform swap for June and this will be organised at the next meeting.
Next meeting: Thursday 25th April 2024

Minutes of Parent Association meeting 17th January 2024
In attendance Susan Frawley ( Principal), Elaine Durbin (Chairperson), Gemma King ( secretary),
Triona Walsh, Ann Marie Chaplin, Christine Gore, Andre Lyfar, Yvonne Lyfar.
- Susan gave us an update on the building works and hopefully they will be completed for June and ready for use in September.
- A new board of management has been elected and Susan will send out a note to all parents on who has been elected.
- Grandparents day will take place on Friday 9th February with mass in the church followed by teas and coffees in the community hall with each class performing for the Grandparents. We will be looking for volunteers to help give out tea and coffee on the day so any help would be greatly appreciated.
- As this is usually a very busy day with ask that only Grandparents attend this occasion.
- The policy on split classes was discussed. Susan offered to send out a survey to parents of children in split classes to get their opinion and the results will be discussed at the next meeting.
- Eamon Andrews will be in school on 7th February for school photographs and all children are asked to wear full uniform on this day.
- We are looking for more parents to join the parents association so that we have a more diverse representation of parents from all classes in the school. Being a Parent Rep does not mean you have a job to do! Rather, it is a chance to be your children’s voice and give your opinion on various things happening in the school e.g policy reviews, events etc

The aim for this meeting was to elect officers for the Parents association for the school year 23/24.
Elaine Durbin was elected Chairperson, Gemma King secretary and Anita Reynolds treasurer.
Susan Frawley offered to contact The National Parents Council to organise an information meeting
on the role of the Parents association for new members.
The role of the parent Representative on the board of management for the school was discussed as
the election is coming up soon. It involves 4-5 meetings per year and Susan Frawley will send out
information about it to parents before the election. There will be a meeting for whoever is
interested and a parent will be elected at this meeting.
The Christmas card templates have been given out to children and will have to be returned before
Halloween Break to ensure we get them by early December. They were very late getting to parents
last year so hopefully this year will we get them earlier.
Parents are very happy with communication about school events via Aladdin especially the dates for
the month ahead Flyer which gives parents the opportunity to plan ahead of events. Everyone
agreed it is very helpful.
The school uniforms were discussed with some parents asking if the school tracksuit could be worn
at least three days a week maybe P.E days and Friday. Susan will discuss with staff at a meeting.
Upcoming events:

woods.

- It was suggested that a school uniform swap would be organised for the end of June in the school. Anyone who has good quality Jerseys and uniform can donate and parents can come in, browse and see what is available. No payment needed.

Minutes of Parents Association meeting 24/11/22
In attendance: Susan Frawley, Elaine Durbin, Anita Kelly, Christine Gore, Gemma King.
Susan would like parents to review the school’s Healthy Eating policy which will be put up
on Aladdin for parents to read and comment on.
Some Parents were not sure how the new messaging feature on Aladdin worked so Susan
said they would put up a link on Aladdin which should make this clearer with frequently
asked questions.
There is a new defibrillator installed on the school, grounds and the code is C159X. This can
be used by the local community in case of emergency.
There is a whole school play planned for this school year in late May/ June. All classes will be
involved in this.
Parents are to be reminded that there is no supervision in the school until 9:10 am every
morning.
Hurling at the wall in the school yard in the morning was discussed and it was decided that it
was dangerous and should not be happening. Susan was to pass this information on to the
teachers on morning supervision.
Susan is going to put up a calendar of events happening in the school in December for
parents. There is a lot happening with choir, Grúpa ceoil, Santa visits and collection for
charity. This can be seen on Aladdin.
The Parents association asked if Grandparents Day could go ahead next year as it has always
been a lovely day. The school hall is currently being used as a classroom so Susan is going to
see if the community Hall is available for this event. Parents will be needed to help out if it is
going ahead.
There were no class Reps elected at the meeting as there was not enough parents in attendance.

Minutes of Parents association meeting Thursday 20 th October 2022
In attendance Susan Frawley, Michelle O’Sullivan, Michelle Kayes, Tríona Walsh, Christine
Gore, Anita Kelly, Aoife Moloney, Elaine Durbin, Carmel Hannigan, Deborah Harkins,
Siobhan O Gorman and Gemma King.
Susan Frawley addressed the group and gave a synopsis of what the Parents Association is
and what kinds of activities and fundraisers they have done in the past. The role of the
parents association is to support the school with policy reviews, decisions about upcoming
events, looking for volunteers to help out with school activities during the year and
fundraising etc
Christmas cards will be organised again for this year with parents asking if they could be
done earlier this year as they were delivered very late in December 2021.
A new committee was formed with Elaine Durbin as chairperson, Gemma King as secretary
and Anita Kelly as treasurer.
We will be looking for class reps at the next meeting who would liaise with any parents who
cannot attend PA meetings.
Communication between the school and parents was discussed with the consensus being
that parents would like to be informed about school news more regularly. This could be
done through the school website which Susan admitted is a bit dated and needs to be
revamped. Any parent who knows anyone who could do this or would have the capabilities
to do so themselves to speak to Susan about this.
The new ASD block at the back of the school is to commence soon. Susan would like the hall
which is currently used as a classroom to be extended for use as a P.E hall and is going to
price this.
It was suggested that there would be chat about Aladdin in particular the new messaging
feature in the coming meetings. Some parents are unsure of how this works and who is
viewing the messages.
There will be a series of talks organised throughout the year which are available through the
National Parents Council. Some suggestion were wellbeing, anxiety and transition to
secondary school. Parents association will meet about every 6 weeks.
Upcoming events.
Witches Walk Thursday 27th October volunteers needs for this.
Next meeting Thursday 24th November 2022 7:30pm
