Parents' Association
We are very lucky to have an active Parents' Association in our school. Our Parents' Association works with the principal, staff and the Board of Management to build effective partnership of home and school. Educational research on the involvement of parents in schools shows that children attain higher levels of achievement when parents and teachers work together. Our Parents' Association is involved in reviewing school policies e.g. Anti-Bullying, Safety, Homework, Enrolment, Behaviour etc. They organise extra-curricular activities. They help us with functions that occur from time to time in our school hall. They invite speakers to address parents on issues which are topical and/or relevant to our school.
Throughout the years the Parents' Association have organised many fundraising events such as a fashion show, golf classic, fun bingo night, horse racing night, sale of calendars, Santa Claus visits etc. The money raised has resurfaced the infant yard, bought eighteen iPads and funded resource rooms in the Cois na Coille building. Parental financial support has enhanced every aspect of our school.
Every parent is, by default, a member of the Parents' Association. They chair regular meetings to update parents on what is going on in the school and to take ideas or information from the floor. All parents are welcome and encouraged to join.
